Yehoodi's 6th Anniversary
The Basie Centennial Ball
The Music, The People, The Dance

October 9, 2004
8pm - 2am
Roone Arledge Auditorium
Alfred Lerner Hall, Columbia University
2920 Broadway, New York, NY 10027

Have you ever wondered what it was like dancing to the great big bands in the ballrooms of Harlem back in day? The Basie Centennial Ball on Oct 9, 2004 is probably the closest you will get to that today. This event will be a grand reunion of the music and the dance, as it was meant to be.

This is an exceptional opportunity to dance to a phenomenal line up closer to the original Count Basie Orchestra than ever imagined today -- a night to be savored in the years to come.

Count Basie Orchestra alumni performing include:

Clark Terry (1948-51)
Frank Foster (1953-64)
Frank Wess (1953-64)
Joe Wilder (1954)
Benny Powell (1952-63)
Irene Reid (1961-62)
Dennis Rowland (1977-84)

These Count Basie Orchestra alumni will join Frank Foster's Swing Plus Band and other special guests including Junior Mance, Earl May and Barbara Morrison to help create an unforgettable evening of swing.

There are few better ways to pay tribute to Count Basie than to dance the night away to his music that embodies swing. The dance and the music are incomplete without each other, and a full celebration of the master could not be achieved if there was no swing.

Please join Yehoodi.com on October 9th, 2004 as they celebrate their sixth anniversary by honoring a century's worth of Swing -- the music, the dance and the people who made it happen.

"Count Basie's music is made for dancing. It's more than just playing notes on a page. We feed off of what the dancers are doing on the floor and they pick up on what we're doing on the bandstand, and next thing you know the night has flown by and you've never played better."
