"Ella at Zardi's" Being Released 60 Years Later

On February 2, 1956, Ella Fitzgerald at was at the height of her career when she performed two sets at Zardi's Jazzland in Hollywood, California. Ella was relaxed and boisterous that night, according to WGBO, "a vivid illustration of Fitzgerald’s live spark as an improviser, her airtight control of rhythm and pitch, and her bantering bond with an audience." 

Fortunately, someone thought to record the live performance. But it sat in the vault for 60 years. Until now. 

 

On December 1, "Ella at Zardi's" will be available on CD and for download on Amazon. It will feature lots of classics, including some songs adored by lindy hoppers, including:
