Chester Whitmore and Usher on the History of Black Music... and Cognac?

“What is the link between the land of cognac, jazz, blues, and hip-hop?” asks Grammy-award winning singer Usher at the beginning of this extended ad / music video for cognac maker Rémy Martin.

Honestly, we haven’t fact checked all the assertions that Usher makes about the historical connections between Black Americans, France, jazz, R and B, and hip-hop genres. But it certainly it an entertaining six minutes of music, dancing, and culture. Check out the full video here.

And through it all is our favorite mad genius of dance, Chester Whitmore, who appears throughout the video in various guises. Let’s see if we can spot them all…

Here’s Chester first as a bass player mostly hidden in the shadows.

And later, Chester appears in a crowded speakeasy behind the bar.

Here’s Chester and Usher sharing a moment.

And finally here’s Chester the mechanic.

Honestly we wouldn’t be surprised if we missed a few Chesters. Chester the b-boy? Chester the deejay? Really anything is possible with that man.
