On behalf of all of us on the staff of Yehoodi.com, we'd like to welcome you to our brand new website, Yehoodi 3.0! Things might look a bit different, but we think after getting used to the new furniture and appliances that you are going to like our new home. Here's what you can look forward to over the next few months.
"Things Aren't What They Used to Be"
The new Yehoodi 3.0 is going to retain all that you know and love about previous versions of the site: the discussion boards, calendar, news, radio show, podcasts, etc. But more than ever before, this site will be about the community, making it easier for everyone to post, rate, bookmark, and talk about the swing stuff that you care about. Here's what you will find on this new site:
* Community Contributions: All users can submit swing dances and events, swing resources, forum topics, and almost anything else from one, easy-to-use form
* The Entire Site is the Discussion Board: Anything on the site -- events, news, videos, podcasts -- can be conversed about to your heart's content
* Bookmarks and Email Notifications: so you can track all the stuff that you care about most on the site, and get notified when it changes
* Events Near You: Put your location in your account settings, and we will show you swing events within a set distance from you (i.e. all upcoming events within a 30 minute drive from Boston, MA)
* Faster than Google: A powerful site-wide search engine so you can find what you want fast
(Check the FAQ for details on all the stuff you can do on the new Yehoodi.)
And this is just the beginning of the beginning. We've got a lot more that we're planning and working on over the next months (from RSS feeds to Facebook integration) that we think you're going to love.
"I want the frim-fram sauce with the ausen fay / With chafafah on the side"
During our development phase, we've asked many of you for your feedback and help, which you have generously provided. We want to make sure that we continue to develop the site in ways that you find useful. If there is something that you would LOVE to see on the new Yehoodi, head to the Support forum and drop us a post. We'll be publishing our development roadmap so you can see what stuff we are already working on and considering.
"Mildred, Won't You Behave?"
Like most new sites, Yehoodi 3.0 will not work perfectly out the gate. If there is something funky going on, you can tell us about it in the Support forum. If there's a problem with a particular post, you can report it by clicking the little shield icon to the right of it. That will alert the moderators to take a look and see what's up. For those of you would want to be part of our elite beta tester team, email us at support@yehoodi.com to indicate your interest.
We're continually working on the site, so don't be surprised if things look different from week-to-week. Yehoodi 3.0 is definitely a work-in-progress.
"I Love Being Here with You"
You are the heart of Yehoodi, the community that gives life to our site. We re-built Yehoodi from the ground-up so that we can keep serving you in newer and cooler ways. Thanks for all your support and participation over the years and all that you do to keep this great dance and this wonderful music alive.
Special thanks to the incredible work and dedication of Yehoodi's resident web coder Spuds, our user-interface wizard Poke Alex and web projects manager Rikomatic.
Sincerely,
The Yehoodi Crew (Effervescent, Frankyboy, LilieBlue, Rikomatic, Shorty Dave, and Spuds)
It's going to take some getting used to, but I like it!
My only issue is the color scheme. It feels like it's a little too bright, which isn't a good thing when you're at your cubicle and you don't want your co-workers to notice that you're not working.
Is there a button that'll take me to the oldest post in a thread since I had last logged in? I really like that feature as it saves me from rummaging through a thread looking for where I last stopped reading.
The velocity of Spanish is that many tables do not have sadness...
If you're in the Browse area, instead of a button on each thread that takes you to the oldest post since you last logged in, it's now a "Since Last Visit" filter that you apply to the entire view. (Right next to "30 days").

It's very nice, but after 10 years of Yehoodi, I'm used to the old format. I want to see all the NYC discussions separated out! Is it possible to hover over the dates in the calendar, rather than having to click on each date? Also, my settings say New York, NY with a 100 mile radius, but it's including Iowa City, IA??? Last time I checked, Iowa City was a bit further than 100 miles. :-)
Regardless, thank you for all your hard work past and present, Ye' Yehoodi-dom.
Yeah, but you only have two options, open the first post of the conversation, or the last post of the conversation. I'd love to have a link that brings me to the first post since my last visit. Like what clicking on the []-} image did on 2.0.
Not even Nostradamus could have predicted the future on this. It's a news flash, you dropped the bomb. The nosiest little man in the universe couldn't have figured this kind of stuff out. Guess that's the way it is for all of us. You knew how to get both money and sex. Apparently you just wanted to be independent with the God of Death for this website. Keep up the good work. Be right. And remember, people aren't edible or should it be over? We should all get along and be less irritating, lest we be void of ignorance. Just jive, much pride. Be passionate. Let's swing.
Hmmm, can't say I'm liking the new calendar. What happened to the "month-at-a-glance" view? Doesn't make much sense to have to hover over every day to see what's happening then.
It's also a pain to switch locations. Used to be you could just select a state from the drop-down. Now you have to change your profile settings, go back to the calendar, change them back, return to the calendar...just to see what's happening in another city.
Welcome to the "new" hoax! Fighting the new hoax will never solve anything in this life. But we will be victorious as the most sublime winners in the universe. Keep in mind your Saturday morning cartoons! I remember they quoted Socrotes - "Think for yourself" Yes indeed, thinking for one's self will give you choices. Conscious choices. The greatest choices in the universe. Be unlike T-Rex who couldn't make choices. You will make choices because you think for yourself as a god damn person. Be demystified.
Welcome to the Brand New Yehoodi 3.0!
