Calendar feed?

Is there a feed format or something similar for the calendar?

I've been working on a Map of swing dance events, that can be seen on http://swing.vitavonni.de/ (Sorry, i18n/l10n is still on my ToDo list)

It has mostly events in Germany right now, but also in Canada, Melbourne, Hong Kong, Canada and some in the US. Basically wherever I was able to find a Google Calendar with usable location information. It originally started with producing a multi-view calendar for our local scene, which has three bigger organizations with own events (Swing and the City, World of Swing, Boogie-Bären). We soon expanded to Hamburg who have similar requirements of being able to edit their calendars independently. And using Google Calendar saved me from having to do an input form myself. And then I just wanted to see how far I can scale it up. ;-)

Well, it seems that for the NY area, Yehoodi is the main calendar. And it seems to enforce them having useful address information. So it would be nice to import Yehoodi information, too. I could parse it off the web site (if that is okay for you), but the best thing would be some kind of XML feed (e.g. ATOM/GData like Google Calendar has). And it would make sense to be able to set a page size or timeframe, e.g. all events for the next 90 days, or 100 events on a page.

Is there any such function available for Yehoodi? Is it okay for you if I poll this data regularly, like once per day, once per hour maybe later? Right now, the whole thing is still an experiment for me (and the URL is only temporary). But the raw calendar (not the "Map" version) is already heavily in use in Hamburg and Munich. We even feed it into facebook: Swing Calendar for Munich on Facebook We also already include many international exchanges and workshops. At some point, the map will get a time control, that you can set to e.g. see only multi day events such as camps and workshops, but for the next couple of months instead of just the next 7 days.

There WILL be an event listing feed/API available! I don't have any specifics yet, so Spuds and Rik would have to elaborate on that.

Any progress on this?

p>I've seen the calendar now loads data using some JSON API. That would be excellent to use; however I don't get a dedicated "location" field that I could use (with the preferred format of any address that I could run through the Google geocoder)

Any work on API specific functionality has beed pushed back due to the heavy work we are putting into the next version of the site. But never fear, it's still on our roadmap.
