I made you way hotter than me last year. Might consider, as long as you aren't MUCH hotter than me.

You have age on your side. ;)

Are you signing up for the routine? Have you started your mermaid diet ? Have you marked it on your calender? WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!

I saw that once. In a bottle of grappa. Maybe Swingkitten's apartment. I believe her mother was in attendance.

Work is quiet today, so I am going over the routine. Every year it's different, every year I get nervous, and every year we are amazing.

I've no idea how many years this is for me. I think this is the group's 10th year, and I know I didn't participate the first year and maybe the 2nd. If so, this will be 8 for me as well.

    Am I remembering this correctly:

1st year: Simone choreographed a routine to 'Coney Island' 2nd year: Laura Jeffers 'Devil and the Deep Blue Sea" 3rd year: we did the shim sham to Barnacle Bill 4th year: I did the choreography to Sandman 5th year: Olympia on Parade 6th year: Olympia on Parade since we were rained out the year before 7th year: Royal Garden Blues 8th year: Love Roller Coaster

which makes this year my 9th!

    9th year: Spreadin' Rhythm Around

So this makes it the group's 11th year?

In any case, it is truly, really and truly, the best parade and the best day of the year. I hope if you're out there, lurking or not, just starting to dance or an old curmudgeon like me, that you'll come join us on parade day. Of course, I'd love to have everyone for the routine, but if you don't have the time to commit, everyone EVERYONE is welcome to join us on parade day.

is it too early to do a weather check? the answer, I know, is yes.

This weekend, between this and that, I need to find a new whistle (yous are a huge group this year!) make sure the boots don't need shining, and that the suit still fits.

so excited so excited so excited

85 degrees and only 30% chance of passing T-Storms. I'll take those odds.

For those of us who have been watching earlier, it started out at 60% chance of all day storms, so let's hope it keeps looking better!

Don't go getting cocky now, but the forecast as of today says 87 degrees and sunny. Sunglasses, sunscreen and maybe a hat is in order.

Ok once again it is time to give you the skinny on being a part of the bestest day of the year. the CONEY ISLAND MERMAID PARADE !!! Here is the official Coney Island Website: http://www.coneyisland.com/mermaid.shtml We are registered as the Brooklyn Bombshell Revue and check in is at West 21rst street this year off Surf Avenue. We are NOT next to the Cyclone this year, closer to baseball stadium. All are welcome to dance , strut exhibit with us. I ask that you all contribute a 15.00 fee to me or lilieblue directly to cover our registration, water, bribes, etc. YOU MUST DRESS UP. Mermaid , sailor, sea creature, vintage bathing beauty, etc. People will be more interested in what you look like rather than your swing out. Wear appropriate foot wear to dance on concrete. Keep in mind there is a good chance we will be in the hot sun for a long time, rething the mermaid eskimo costume. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE IN THE ROUTINE TO PARTICIPATE!!!! The routine in performed twice during our march while the rest of us hoot and holler. Most of the parade we will all be dancing and marching. If you wanted to be in the routine , it is too late to join but come anyway! We will bring a cooler of water, but it can't hurt to bring extra. I will also bring some healthier snacks. YOU CANNOT BRING YOUR STUFF IN THE PARADE. We will coordinate with those that have cars and lock up our stuff right before the parade, and then meet up with them afterward. The cart that holds the sound system has only enough room for sets of cars keys, medication, etc. NO BACK PACKS etc. Are you driving? Post here if you can offer a ride. Don't forget the sunscreen!!!

This from the folks at Coney Island: As in past years: * Registration will be open at 10 AM * A changing tent will be provided at Marcher and Push-pull float registration before the Parade, but will come down before the Parade ends * The Museum will *not* be available for storage * Be sure to display your registration number when marching. Besides the Judges there is an iPhone voting app planned for this year. So display the registration number you will receive the day of the Parade when you check in. In addition... 1) The Police are very strict about the alcohol policy. If you are marching or riding on a float and the cops see you drinking from an open beer can or an open bottle of liquor, they will pull you out of the parade and issue you a summons! We want everyone to have a good time, but please be judicious! 2) If you are driving a muscle car, please do *not* burn rubber! Again, the police will take license plates and mail you a summons. That would suck, so please don't do it. 3) Please feel free to bribe the judges. As our judges stand has grown in size, the need for more bribes has grown! The judges are thirsty...and hungry...and appreciate homemade artyfacts too. And don't forget to be sure they see your registration number. Please also check our website at http://www.coneyisland.com/mermaid.shtml for more general information. If you have any other questions, please call the office at 718-372-5159 or email us at info@coneyisland.com. As of now you are all set! You won't be hearing from us unless we need to notify you of a route change or there's a problem with your regisitration. Thanks again for your support of Coney Island USA and the Mermaid Parade. We can't wait to see you! The Parade is going to be great!
