Very sad indeed! I grew up listening to her, as my mother would play her constantly. My first real appreciation of her was as the the Good Witch of the North in The Wiz!

An historic lady with so much talent and courage.
I saw her at Carnegie Hall a number of years ago during a tribute to the Nicholas Brothers ... she never lost her incredible awesomeness.
