Just to open this up to the greater lindy hop community, we've lost a great one today. Keith Shapiro died in his sleep last night. I've leave it to others closer to the situation to go into further detail, but wanted to get the news out there so that people can start to think about ways to support Summer, Anna, and Ella during this sudden tragedy.
Past that... words fail. Just can't comprehend this loss.

This just sucked the breath right out of me. Sending lots of light and love to Summer, Anna and Ella. Please let us know if there's absolutely anything we can do as a community, or as individuals, to help.

I can't even imagine what to write right now... I am shocked, incredibly sad, pissed off that I will never see my friend again, and wish I heard about this in person instead of on the internet.
Really, really, tragic... he was a really special person and I can't imagine the lindy hop community without him in it. Or the world.

Hannah and I are completely floored by this news. Keith and Summer were kind enough to invite us to a party the first weekend we moved into their town. From the moment we moved to Austin, Keith was one of the friendliest people we met here. I was really looking forward to getting to know him better and to hopefully become great friends with him and I am so sad that I will miss out on knowing such a cool guy.
Our thoughts go out to Summer and the kids. This is an absolutely tragic loss, and not just for the lindy community. It's really unfair when bad things happen to such genuinely good people.

I just found out about this myself. Needless is to say I am loss at words. Such a great loss...He was always fun to be around, kind, giving, and overall great guy! I will definitely miss him.

I just don't even know what to say. I'm so sad and heartbroken for Summer and the girls, and I miss my friend very much. My husband and I had just talked about how we were looking forward to seeing them when we visit Austin in a few weekends...it just seems impossible that he's gone so suddenly. We love you, Summer, and we're here for you.

What can we do to help Summer and their girls? I can't imagine how terrible this must be for them, and I know nothing will take away their pain, but surely as a community we can do something for them? I don't know what I can do from afar, aside from sending good thoughts and prayers their way, but if anyone comes up with something I want to help.

That's kinda why I started this thread. I don't know what we can do just yet, but when the time comes, I hope the whole community pulls through in spades. Whether it is something as simple as waves of love and support from all around, financial support, or otherwise, I hope we can come together to support Summer and the girls in a really big way.

I'm speechless and saddened. What a horrible loss to the community and to all who knew and loved him. Keeping Summer and the girls in my prayers today.

Speechless :( I can't believe someone with so much life is gone so young - I'll always remember their wedding and how much love radiated from them. You will be missed in so many ways :(
Do you know how awkward it is to have a political argument with a naked man?

I am shocked to my very core. I was explaining to my wife who Keith was, and the more I told her about him the more it hit home how impactful this really is.
I know this sounds stupid, but it's going to be hard to read Yehoodi for a long time I think. Keith was such a presence here in so many of my favorite threads, it will be really difficult to see those posts again.

I am shocked and saddened to hear the news. Keith always showed such kindness and openness to everyone and will surely be missed. There are no words...
My heart goes out to Summer and the kids, and I echo the sentiment that if there is anything the community can do, please let us know.

I haven't posted on yehoodi for a long time. This merits some thoughts. Keith was only 30 years old. It shows that death can happen any time anywhere. This is really scary. He is a really good, and giving human being. Every interaction I had with him involved him helping other people including me.
My heart is with Summer and the kids. My hope is we figure out a way to help them through. Financial, emotional, spiritual...whatever is needed.
