"After a long break Li'l Mo is back with a new album (on the Cow Island label,) and since her last two albums, Hearts In My Dream and her self titled 1996 debut, she has refined her music to cover a wider platform of roots based vintage musical forms. As well as the rockabilly and country influenced songs there are now hints of jazz, cajun, soul, pop and r 'n' b. There is also a strong sense of continuity in that she has again co-produced the album with multi-instrumentalist Hank Bones who was on the previous two albums. Guests include Louisiana musician and Mamou Playboy Steve Riley who adds some accordion and fiddle to the song Dance Crazed, while Bones delivers some bluesy cornet to the old time tone of Why Don't You Live With Me? Alongside the accomplished originals Li'l Mo covers a Bill Haley co-write, Rockin' Chair On The Moon as jumpin' rockabilly while Wayne Walker's I've Got A New Heartache plays out as a country shuffle. Throughout she adapts her vocal approach to suit the various moods that the songs take and does so with her customary flair, something that makes this album such an enjoyable listening experience. Fans of Imelda May would do well to check this album out."---Lonesome Highway
Austin, Texas songwriter Teri Joyce sings the songs that built the honkytonks and writes the songs that will keep them standing. She's truly a singer's songwriter, and her songs have been covered by such roots royalty as Marti Brom, Roger Wallace, Ted Roddy, Karen Poston, and Rick Broussard. Teri's ball-of-fire stage presence and honest country voice have delighted crowds for more than a decade, with her original classics and the country gold she loves to mine.
Connolly's has a tasty, varied, and reasonably priced dinner menu, a full bar, and a beautiful sprung wooden dance floor. The popular LETS ZYDECO shows are friendly community events, set up for dancing, socializing or listening. A complimentary dance workshop in the basic dance styles is provided prior to the music for those interested in learning the basic dance steps. You do not need a partner to participate.
