I have an idea, how about a pic of Duchess in her red vinyl hot pants and british flag vinyl top in front of a blue Mini with the Union Jack on the roof!

Quoted from "Duchess" Yeah... I'm thinking about giving up my dreams of saving the environment to live the lavish life of a car model. :P
But you'll get to persuade horny men to purchase gas guzzling SUV's! And once you're rich in a few years, there will be less environment for you to save so it'll be less work. :o
Designers within the Chrysler Group of DaimlerChrysler are working under a new manifesto: every vehicle, no matter what its desired purpose, must deliver an emotionally satisfactory experience. The three concepts unveiled today are examples of this edict.
Before bringing the newest concepts to center stage, Wolfgang Bernard, COO Chrysler Group, pointed out the details of a vehicle that made its debut last week in Los Angeles.
The Magnum SRT-8 sports a supercharged 430-horsepower HEMI V8 engine with rear-wheel drive performance. Referred to as the new shape of American muscle, this high-performance concept can haul plenty of cargo, and when it goes into production it will represent the first application of Mercedes-Benz technology in a high volume mainstream Chrysler product.
Trevor Creed, senior vice president of design for the Chrysler Group, rode onstage inside the first of three concepts to debut.
The Dodge Avenger Concept
The idea behind this sporty concept vehicle is to combine the performance of a European rally car with the convenience and capability of an American SUV. The result is a vehicle that looks like a truck from the front but a sedan from the side.
Bulging fenders and a high ground clearance highlight the exterior styling, and the versatility is enhanced with rear doors that open 90 degrees and seats that fold flat.
The Dodge Kahuna Concept
The Kahuna is a new interpretation of what a minivan could be. Painted in Point Break Blue, the Kahuna has a big wave theme carried throughout the vehicle. The exterior is trimmed in bird s eye maple with a see-through retractable canvas top. Since the vehicle has no door pillars, with the windows down and the top open one could almost call it a convertible minivan.
Inside are three rows of seating for six-passenger capacity. Two of the seats can be turned into tables, and there is plenty of storage capacity.
The Tomahawk Concept
This is the wild one. Imagine a 500-horsepower Viper engine on wheels. No chassis or body, just wheels. That s the Tomahawk. Wolfgang Bernard, outfitted in the requisite leather jacket, drove this concept onstage.
This 4-wheel motorbike is a mechanical sculpture, with nothing but outrageous performance in mind. Weighing only 1,500 lbs., the Tomahawk can reach 60 mph in just 2.5 seconds. Top speed is estimated to be around 300 mph, but that hasn t been verified. Yet. When Dieter Zetsche, president and CEO of the Chrysler Group asked if this vehicle would ever be produced, the response was maybe, which is more than many other automaker execs would have granted.

Ouch!
I just witnessed a great race on the Seaford-Oyster Bay.
A blue M5 entered from my right. In the left lane was a yellow Integra GS-R with some exhaust mods going 10 MPH faster.
Mr M5 wasn't having this, swung over to he left lane, zip around the Acura, then I watched both exhausts turn rich as they floored it. The Acura really took off but that M5 didn't let up until 1/2 mile later. Over 140MPH I would estimate.

I've been car shopping for a while... and I'm pretty much fixed on the new (1st year sigh Honda Element.
Its a little bit of everything I need (sporty for mountain trips, room for baby seats) and with decent gas mileage (21/24 for the 4WD). Its a new model but built on the tried and true CRV foundation so I expect to own it for 7-10 years.

What's so special about that? My V-Max goes 0-60 in 2.8 secs, and costs a fraction of that. I must say though, it is cooler looking than my V-Max. :)

Larry, I won't completely poo-poo the Honda Element (I'm looking at it myself), but the CRV is based on the Honda Civic Wagon AWD. Two problems here: the drivetrain is weak, and the AWD system is poorly designed.
I had a Civic Wagon AWD for a year, and hated it. The CV shafts are incredibly wimpy, just take a look at any CRV from the read. You'll see itsy bitsy teeny weeny half-shafts. I don't trust 'em, no sir.
The AWD system is the real killer for me. It's rear-wheel drive until the rear wheels slip. Then the front wheels kick in suddenly, and you have a front wheel drive vehicle. In the snow, I've spun that car mid-turn at low speeds more times than I could count. You'd have severe understeer going into the apex, so you'd be turning hard to overcompensate, then the front wheel drive kicks in and you have severe oversteer. Next thing you know you're turning the wheel full opposite lock and the rear end is coming around. At 15 mph. I just don't trust it.

Almost lost a car door today.
Parked in a great spot on E88th St in NYC and swung open the door. Didn't realize that someone had double-parked across the street and that traffic would be closer to my car. The red Miata's door came within an inch (I would estimate) to being torn off by an SUV!

[bleep!] brother, I already have the DVD from the first season. Took you this long to find this show? Too bad, you missed some kick ass vehicles too! Like the 100 mph mustang lawnmower, or the VW Beetle swamp buggy boat, or the firetruck limousine. Jesse James has some serious points in my book.

Jesse James is AMAZING!!! I saw him on "Junkyard Wars" and he turned a stretch limo into a fire truck.....I met him a couple of times AND I got to see and SIT on a few of his rightous motorcyles...he signs EVERY ONE of them....I used to bartend the tattoo and motorcycle conventions at the Vanderbilt every year up to this past year when they had the big turf war..
BTW: my friend "Cousin Vinny" is the lawyer to a few of those who were involved and he has 2 Jesse James bikes in "Retainer" He he he...
Man I LOVE "Junkyard Wars" and "Battle Bots" which was the competion before "Robot Wars" from the UK took over.. :D

Well, I must agree with Jeremy..."Robot Wars" are WAY too commercial...They run the whole comp like it's an overacted wrestling match....I think they even had Carmen Electra calling matches at one point! Blah
"Battle Bots" put more focus on the talent and hard work that goes into creating the machines.

On vacation driving an M3 for the week, absolutely in heaven. I caught myself driving around looking for races.
Saw my first convertible Beetle and BMW Z4 yesterday in Scottsdale. Although I hate the pics of Z4s, seeing on with the parking lights on and top down as the sunset near Camelback mountain, it looked beautiful!

Dammit! Tranny started slippin' today! Only in first gear.
No wonder I've been getting lousy mileage the past half dozen tanks. Argh.

Love them both.

So the last couple nights, on my way to bed, I turned on the tv and stopped into Discovery Channel where a show I hadn't seen before was twinkling...
Monster Garage
I've gotta say, this show rocks! It's Car & Driver meets Robot Wars meets Junkyard Wars... Absolutely fantastic!
Check local listings and watch another car be turned into a new form of destruction!!!
