was last night. Thanks Baby Jane, Miss Behave, and Miss Steak for dragging my ass off the couch last night. Great music, great people, great dancing. I have no idea how I am awake right now. (although the sticker idea was totally MINE!)

Quoted from "Eli" Kara, it wasn't the bottle you gave me, I think it was a plastic bottle I got from LindyKitten.. the top wasn't screwed on tightly enough.
Whew! Glad good booze didn't go to waste afterall!!

Quoted from "Eli" whaaa.. I guess y'all will just never let me live this down.
Asher why blame me on what crowd liked or didn't like...? I thought I kept my opinions to myself. I have no problem with Jimmy and definitely appreciated his presence at the awesome party. I was there primarily to stain couches anyway.

I was merely pointing out that you were the most vocal. (I wasn't blaming you per se. Hey it wasn't my party, I was just hoping to hear one of Jimmy regular songs.) I think you just didn't realize it. There was not one western swing song to be had b/c the band thot that folks wouldn't like it.
hey wait a minute, i just caught up to this. We didn't play any of our regular tunes because we didn't want to, babe. I had no assumptions about what the party likes or dislikes. it was a BLUES party and why interupt a good groove? everybody was sexy and groovin' to some primal sh t, yo. I did whip out a few northern mississippi tunes that weren't on the plate, kinda trance like; and you definately can't swing to that, yet all were enjoying it just the same. you can always hear our original tunes any ol' time & i'm flattered your not sick of that song, Asher, our 1 fan.
BUT thinking back I might have drunkenly used that as an excuse to get out of your request, heh heh :dunno: old band trick. like when somone asks for john denver and you announce whatever song you were going to play anyway, as a john denver song. "the public loves to be fooled" -PT Barnum.
I thought we all had a bumpin' time and the groove was just right, so i didn't want to rock the boat for my own reasons. plus i was wearing my Gigalo Harmonica chain necklace and it just doesn't go with country. we certainly didn't what the two girls dancing together in front of us to go away, either. heh heh
btw no one has remarked on my wonderful "Deliverance Banjo Player" Icon.

thanks dennis.
when we used to play Lo-Fi events and jacks joint, and tramps cafe every wednesday for 8 months, we had plenty of dancers, the cup runneth over with swing gigs left & right. Asher, MissBehave, and others were always active in trying to get people to dig us & to this day rarely miss a show. but since the lull in clubs booking swing, and the closing of tramps; we fell out of the scene, and now we don't often play dance events, but do often play places where you can dance. (Lillies for one, in Red Hook Feb 1st.)
we've never been a big band type, but our stuff is definately swing-dancable, much like the bands of the california western swing movment.
it's really all the same except scaled down and played with steel guitars instead of horns. (a good CD to listen to that bridges jazz w/country is Billy Jack Wills (bob wills bro). I think there's only one CD available).
I "compose" my own music, so that may be an unfamilar thing to people who rely on familiarity with the songs. but at any rate, it is true that we'd love to see some of the NYC yehoodi community at our shows more.

Ok Mr. Nations. Don't get me wrong..we were totally digging the groove and the whole set. It's just that we all started congregating and wondering what the set lists would comprise. That's why near the end of the 1st set I asked for one of 2 songs...on behalf of the group. Trust me, we didn't leave disapointed..it was great. We're just JNC whores! We forget we're not in the land of peanut shells sometimes!

You know the evite is still active for this party ... the host set it for "20" rather than "02" so perhaps we're just doing it again in another 12 years ...
The best party I have been to in my LIFE...

Soo, I've been to quite a few parties since this one and it's still the best party I have been to in my life ...
wow what tripped this memory? I wish we could do it all over again.
sigh I miss the Loft Pod. Those were the days...
An email from Cindy :D And damn yes I wish we could do it all over again!
wow. i'm glad you still have warm fuzzy sexy manboy memories of your 25th at the pod. :D
xoxo sj
If only we could have raffled off his virginity.
I'm still up for that.
I was just reminiscing about this night... sigh ...that was so much fun.
Woah. Yeah, that was months before I left town for the south. And yes, great times. ... Ah, the days of youth. -DDD.
Wow that was a long time ago. Good news is I am still an older woman and there will always be manboys.
OMG! I was just telling Reggie about some events of that night just the other day. Now, that was a party that will go on forever! :D
To this day, I still find myself asking people.. "You were at that party too!?"
Hehee.
You know the evite is still active for this party ... the host set it for "20" rather than "02" so perhaps we're just doing it again in another 12 years ...
12 years is a long time to wait...I don't think there will be any boys left!
