Does anybody know of any celebrities who lindy? I'm thinking of people who are famous for reasons other than dancing, but who lindy as a hobby; movie stars, pop singers, sports players, etc.

Dita Von Teese is a minor celebrity, in that people outside her domain really don't know her name, but she's big in what she does. People've told me she likes to social dance balboa. I'll let L.A. people correct me if I've gotten the story wrong.

my ex told a story that shania twain showed up with a bodyguard at a swing night in jacksonville, fla. in about 1999, and he taught her the basics and danced with her.

William Kennedy, author of Ironweed used to dance around here occassionally. Not lindy, but he does very respectable east coast. Unfortunately, we haven't seen him in years...

Canadian swing and jazz singer Alex Pangman is a true-blue, goes-to-exchanges, posts-on-swing-message-boards lindy hopper.

Maxwell's At The Argyle (a really posh venue here in LA) used to have nights where Star Trek: Voyager's Robert Picardo would sing with Mora's Modern Rhythmists.
Marilyn Manson and Hugh Hefner have been to that venue.

Yeah, she also was at Swing 46 once or twice. She had some connection to George Gee because she'd come out on nights when the band was performing. I did get to dance with her at S46.
It's been awhile since she's gone out. This was before she got married and had a kid, but maybe now that she's back on Broadway, she might make an appearance somewhere sometime?!?

Oh and I heard that Katie Couric knows how to swing dance as well. She threw a party at Windows on the World for a children's book launch and had dancing. I believe someone in the scene was invited or went or something.

I did hear that Jennifer Love Hewitt at one time danced.
I danced with Bill Nye the Science Guy once... but I would call it drunken arm-yanking, not lindy.

Rumor has it that Brook Shields used to come to S46. I have not witnessed this myself. Maybe others can confirm.
Danica McKellar (Winnie from The Wonder Years).
Party Matt once danced with Gina Davis in Vegas.

Dude, it's not like I'm remembering random details from Earth 2 or something - it's Babylon 5.
Topic? I got nothin'.
I read that - very depressing book.
Bodyguard.
I take it all back! Story goes...
Party Matt sees Geena Davis, figures what the hell my balls are made from asteroids, asks her to dance.
Geena Davis looks at bodyguard, says no.
Party Matt goes back to table.
Geena Davis, prior to leaving, approaches Party Matt and says "you know, I think I would like to dance."
So she ended up asking him.

Malcolm X used to.
There was an episode of Third rock from the sun that had Dick swing dancing.
Dick also put out a children's album with Bill Elliot's swing orchestra.
