Does anybody know of any celebrities who lindy? I'm thinking of people who are famous for reasons other than dancing, but who lindy as a hobby; movie stars, pop singers, sports players, etc.

Back in the late ninties when "The Derby" was the place to swing dance...one would see "celebrities" filter in and out on a regular basis.
Although they got on the dance floor and "shimmied" I wouldn't call most of them avid Lindy Hoppers-since it is a tough dance to do correctly as you all know. Actually the star who was a regular and did seem to master the dance probably isn't doing much of it now...Robert Blake-now he could Lindy with the best back in the Derby Days. Also Elizabeth Berkely was an excellent swing dancer and somewhat of a regular. The back room was usually packed everynight of the week and well-known people could easily blend in...a lot of limos would be in front especially on weekends. 8)

Dita Von Teese is a dancer. She's also marilyn manson's ex. Marilyn manson did a video with swing dancing in it. He dances a little.
I was supposed to go on tour with him in the beginning of November but his management is CHEAP. (I turned them down) So unfortunately I can't tell you how good of a dancer he is.

Bette Midler could have been exposed to it when she recorded "Billy a dick". It was for a movie that I think had some swing dancing in it. Can't remember the title at this time.

Um, for reals? If it's LA, I've never seen her out and beleive me, I go out ALOT. In fact I don't think I've ever seen any of the celebs mentioned. If they ever danced at some point, they don't anymore or haven't in a long time.

Again the L.A. public swing scene has changed drastically in the last four years...but who really knows who dances what at the multitude of private parties in the area during the year. I suppose the question wasn't just limited to the LA swing scene .

Last I heard, Kate Hudson was living in NYC with Chris Robinson of the Black Crowes, whom she was married to. My brother used to know a guy who at that time (c.2001-02) who lived in her building.

Well, I can't say for sure if it's true, hence my original "I believe...." But this was told to me maybe 3 or 4 years ago, and I think it might have had something to do with somebody's trip to Camp Hollywood?? I barely remember. My friend swears that he danced with her, and I have no reason to think that he was lying about it. :dunno:

I recall reading somewhere that Jennifer Capriatri listed swing dancing as a hobby of hers.
