Registration is officially open for DCLX 2005. This year we have FOUR awesome bands: The Boilermaker Jazz Band will open things up for us again on Friday night, followed by a special late-night surprise band. The Tom Cunningham Orchestra will bring down the house at Glen Echo Saturday night,…

Well, of course that's barring disease, dismemberment, or death.
As for getting here, it's only 500 miles. If you start walking next Friday, you'd arrive right on time (assuming 3 mph for 8 hours per day). If you bike, you could start on April Fool's Day! Or take the easy way out and drive for a day. Or take the really easy way out and fly.

I bring you the latest official DCLX announcement:
In addition to tons of great music and dancing, we've got some
non-dancing fun for you - FOOD OUTINGS.
Locals sign up to take out-of-towners and curious locals to their favorite restaurant during the weekend. You'll get to meet new people and eat new food (or share food you love with others, if you're a host), so it's pretty much a win-win situation. While you will be responsible for paying for your own meal and for arranging transportation to and from the resturant, you'll get a chance at sampling some of the best food that DC can offer.
To get in on the deliciousness: visit http://dclx.org/nondance.php and/or http://www.swingoutdc.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4999.
Last year I took a group of about 20 folks to sushi. Good times. :)

We are declaring the Friday LATE night dance at Chevy Chase ballroom SOLD OUT. If you do not have a weekend pass, you will not be allowed into this event.
For all the other dances, we expect to be able to accomodate at-the-door sales for anyone who wants to join us. Go to www.dclx.org for a complete list of prices and directions for each event.

DCLX UPDATES
It's getting close! Here are a few important things to know:
1) We've had an overwhelming response to DCLX preregistration. As a result we have SOLD OUT the late night dance for Friday evening. We will not be able to sell any tickets at the door. All of the other dances will have at-the-door sales. (Some will be limited, though - so get there early!)
2) We'll have a SNACK POT LUCK at Glen Echo on Friday night at 8 pm. So when you get to town or get off work, come on over and kick off the weekend with a full stomach. Oh, and if you can, bring a snack with you....
3) We managed to brilliantly time our exchance to coincide with the CHERRY BLOSSOMS! They are supposed to be at their peak this weekend. Make sure you make it over there - just be warned that parking will be scarce!

It's getting close and we can't wait to see you there!

Swingoutdc has a thread of photos for your viewing pleasure. I'm sure many more will be added as people recover. I missed both afternoon dances and the sunday dance and I'm still exhausted and sore. Friday night was incredible. I can't believe Paul and co. of the Boilermakers played for us for 7 straight hours! Spontaneous Jam breaking out at 4 am? You guys were SOOOO tired and you were still rockin' out! Thanks so much! All our bands, DJs, volunteers, hosts, and guests - thanks for making this such an incredible exchange for me. I hope you all had a fantastic time. :D
Great to finally meet ShortyJul, Genevieve, Swifty and a bunch of other folks. My legs ache from the dancin', my sides ache from the laughin'... Mugsy, so sorry you couldn't make it. Hope you're feeling better. Next year, next year.
