Inspired by the Pet Peeves thread, I remembered something a very very cute girl told me after a dance we had
Quote A dance is the most fun either if your partner is cute or if he's a good dancer. And you're both!
This is about a year ago but it still warms my heart thinking about it. So, has anybody else had their day (or year) lightened up by an after the dance compliment?

"i loved dancing with you! such a challenge. and i mean
"challenge" in a most positive way. when dancing with you in
super-close position, i felt that i couldn't be lazy, i had to be
totally paying 100 attention all the time. pretty exciting, if
tiring. :)"
and like amy, i really respect this lead's opinion. !!

I've always loved the few times that a great lead has told me, sincerely, how much he enjoyed our dance, but my all-time favorite was when a local follow whose style I adore told me how much she was enjoying watching me on that particular night. It was months ago, and I'm sure she has no idea how happy it made me.

Jen Pringle told me I had good connection when she visited a few months ago. To me this was huge - she was one of those dancers who were just intimidatingly amazing to me when I first started dancing in Denver.

Last week, I was dancing with a girl that I had just met, and I started to lead some balboa, which she followed perfectly. After the dance she said, "You're really good at leading. I never even learned balboa before!"

It's a three-way tie:
from a national teacher:
"That was really nice. You're the first person I danced with tonight who kept his connection and didn't try to lead too much." Words I try to live by to much these days.
Once travelling in a small scene I got:
"Who are you and where did you come from!?!" in a tone of voice that made me feel like a superhero.

"You have good movement." A sweet little compliment by STEVEN "Tha [bleep!]e" MITCHELL
I can't really think of the best compliment I've ever received. I remember them periodically but I don't have a specific memory that I visit on a sad day.

A new follower in St. Louis told me that she had be instructed by a teacher/lead in our scene to watch me blues dance if she wanted to see what it's supposed to look like.
Not too long ago an internationally known teacher said "I love dancing with you! Can I have another?" on one day, and then the next day he wasn't feeling well, but said "I'd rather dance with you not feeling well than sit down and not get to dance w/ you again this weekend".

a fellow follow who dances as a lead sometimes said "you have great free spins, I could just make you keep spinning the whole song!" which was a big compliment because it's something I struggled with for a while.
What's the best compliment you've received at a dance?

"You're seriously my new hero"
"You're really good, you know that? You make me realize how much I still have to learn." -- from very good leader
"Wow, I didn't know you danced."

There was this artist in residence at Omega one year and she said I was 'animal'. Not an animal, but animal.
That was pretty cool.
At a private, I was once told that my follow didn't have any "static" in it's connection... I buzzed on that for a couple weeks!
"I swear every time I watch you, you look more and more like a shagger trying to lindy hop."

"Whew! I need a cigarette!"

Once leading Bal I just got "Mmmmmm"
"Not everyone finds you annoying"
"I want to have your children"

"You smell delectable." Thank you, I try. Bonus points for use of the word "delectable".

Oh yeah. Almost forgot. From a well-known Yehoodite:
"I am so horny right now."
Getting asked by Virgine to dance 5 seconds after I had walked into the room and hadn't even put on my dance shoes yet.

<swoon>
"So, how long have you been dancing?... TWO WEEKS??! SERIOUSLY?? Honey, you don't dance that new." :D
Nice!
One of the best local leaders complimented me when I got back from New York last summer. "Wow New York taught you something"
I'm not sure if it can be taken as a compliment:
Wexie: Would you like to dance. Grasshopper: I really don't west coast. Wexie: I don't either.
:dunno:
Everyone's a horned up Yehoodite.

Also dunno whether to take this as a compliment or not, but at DLX someone I was meeting shook my hand and said "Oh! I thought you were BLACK!"
Up at DLX I had "Wow, you're not like some of the other showy leads. You actually pay attention to the girl!"
Oh, and then there was Dallas at the CW gay bar. :)
My 50something old lead: "You're a wonderful follow... and cute too. That thar fella you came in with..."
Me: "Yes, he's my boyfriend."
Ahhh, good times in Dallas.
"So, 3 people told me that I need to dance with you."
I saw him at my local IKEA the other day. He was looking for a deck chair.

"I can't believe you don't suck after living in Ohio for so long."
