Got my 60 used iPod in the mail today. It doesn't even have a scratch on the metal backside. Unexpectedly, homeboy didn't delete the drive and I now have close to 9 gigs of "clean" songs (about 2,000) backed-up on my 'puter.

The owner of the bank I work for was in town for a meeting, and he let a group of us go for a ride in his helicopter around Columbus while he was busy in the meeting. It was my first time in a helicopter. Very cool experience.

Quoted from "excess" Tonight I had dinner with Joni Mitchell. Turns out she knows my parents. Who knew my parents were ever cool?

She seems incredible, continuing to evolve and explore her music and art. Please tell us more. Was it just the two of us, or were you with your folks, too? What did you talk about?

An adorable boy from Qutar just befriended me in the airport and charged his brand new ipod from my laptop (which he was so excited about), and copied all of my music, 'cause he hadn't put any music on it yet. Boy, is he in for a surprise. With any luck, a new jazz fan will be born.

Holiday promised to sweep me off my feet!! :D
Quoted from "Holiday"
Quoted from "lucy" It always amazes me when a lead actually manages to dip or lift me, AND make it look easy! :D
I am a tall girl, and most guys either don't dare trying, or they miscalculate the weight/ballance, so they have to take those extra hasty adjusting steps to regain our ballance...
Would you mind too much if I give it a try sometimes? :) I've been known to sweep women off their feet, and every once in a while, I'll do it to a guy too because I can. :D

I've been offered a new job, and I just accepted. It's with an Architecture/Interior Design firm, so I'll be able to use the stuff I'm learning in school as I finish my degree in Interior Design. Better pay, better perks, cooler job, so I'm fairly excited. I wasn't even looking, a friend recommended me. I start there beginning of January.

Quoted from "kimpossible" And am I right that this will be a big change for you and Chris, to no longer work in the same place?
Yes. Now our workplaces will be at least 5 miles apart. Seriously, though, it's not like he's really in the office much, and we could still meet for lunch. I will miss having someone to talk about work to that really understands. However, it was time for me to get away from that safety net. My new office employs a group of about 5-6 architects, and one of them is Chris's best friend's wife (who is the one that referred me to the opening). It's nice to know that I have a contact to give me the heads-up about super important things like parking and the dress code.
Plus, I'm excited about the coolness of working "downtown" though I bet that'll wear off quickly.

Well, Lots of "unexpected cool stuff" happened to me today... But the only thing that I can mention at this time is that ... Today, I spoke to my ex-husband about the marina that he owns for about the 2nd year now..
He said that he was starting to do really well there and he "had some money for me"... So today he "unexpectedly" handed me a check for 2K!!!! :D

So I was driving back to Manhattan from Ohio and got to the toll on the George Washington Bridge and put out my money and the woman asked if I had EZ Pass and I said no and she said well the EZ pass just went off so you must have it and waved me through. I've never had EZ pass in my life......so I didn't have to pay 6 to cross the bridge. That rocked my 12 hour drive home!

I just did perhaps one of my most important presentations of the year this morning and it went amazingly well. I was a bit nervous because my last minor presentation was subpar and I could not afford to have the same performance this time around. After I cracked a few new jersey jokes (the guys from the france office love new jersey jokes) to ease up the crowd things went fine.
I'm done, and sitting in my office and the VP of sales walks in and says "Reggie that was great! Go out and treat yourself to a nice dinner. You can expense it".

My folks called a week ago and told me to keep my eye out for a package...a thank you for being a good host the last time they came to New York to visit.
Last night, it arrived. A pair for Weathertech color-matched moulded winter mats for the SUV. Absolutely perfect, as it's only really used during crappy weather and it has light tan carpeting and mats that soil way too easily with mud/rain/snow.
"The WeatherTech FloorLiner accurately and completely lines the interior carpet giving "absolute interior protection "! Digital laser measurements of interior surfaces offer a consistently perfect fit! A patent pending High-Density Tri-Extruded (HDTE) material allows for a rigid core for strength while offering surface friction to the carpet, as well as tactile feel to the surface! Advanced surfacing creates channels that carry fluids and debris to a lower reservoir with further channeling to help minimize fluid movement while driving! Once fluids become trapped in the reservoir, away from shoes and clothing, they are easily removed from the WeatherTech FloorLiner over the door sill...no muss-no fuss! "

Now we just have to decide the girl's outfits--5 emails later we are getting close

So the other day I had to park outside my apartment for a couple days and when I got to my car to take it back to its "country home" in New Jersey I had 115 parking ticket. I was sick and crabby and angry because here's the kicker: the ticket was for parking in front of a fire hydrant......that wasn't there when I parked! There had been a big orange barrel next to my car when I parked. Definitely not a fire hydrant. AND I had been parked for over 36 hours before I got the ticket. So I drove to New Jersey fuming and plotting how I could contest it. I mean really who has a fire hydrant show up AFTER they parked? When I arrived to New Jersey to park at this friend of mine's house he laughed his pants off snatched the ticket from me and said "consider it taken care of." He says he knows someone etc etc. I'm not sure if that's really the case or he's just being really sweet. Either way it was a much better end to the saga than I had expected.

I went kayaking today in the Loxahatchee River. I was a last minute replacement, so the trip was a lovely bit of spontaneity. I'm there with these rowdy boys in their late teens splashing, banging into each other, making all kinds of noise, and the wildlife, I swear, was posing for us.
It was the coolest thing. Turtles were just hanging out sunning, totally unfazed when our boats knocked into their logs. A beautiful blue heron hung out on the edge of the water framed by the trees. It waited for all seven of us to check him out before he moved.
The alligator blew my mind. It was a little five-footer laying in full view out of the water. He could care less that we were bumbling all around him trying to get pictures.
