A motorcycle commute to work, on a Mid-January day, with a high of 58 degree in Central Park expected, followed by Frim Fram, followed by a last minute four day weekend (Friday off 'cause the office is being painted).

My buddy stopped off before work with a 1.5 litre wine bottle filled with first press olive oil from olives grown on his grandmother's 115 yr old olive trees in the southwest of Greece. No acidity, floral, so creamy.

The oil is so good I want to cry.

  1. Found out that things are moving ahead REALLY fast in a positive direction for an "inside connection" that may establish a successful import business related to bringing high quality musical instruments into the U.S.

  2. Made an appointment with a guy representing a company that will help me finance this and other businesses I am ramping up.

  3. I get to report on all this progress with my career to my girlfriend and business partner tonight when she asks me, "so what did you accomplish today?"

That seems like a slightly bigger deal than a bottle of olive oil.

Glad to hear it!

So, the boss just came in and announced he's sending the entire office home 3 hours early today.

That will either translate into getting home sans rush hour traffic or a 3 hour sooner start to my weekend in Manhattan.

YIPPEE!

After him being unemployed, poor, and mentally unstable for months, I finally placed my client with Asperger Syndrome in a really good job that starts Tuesday.

Wow, what a heartfelt celebration to honor a disabled guy you don't even know! You two have hearts o' gold. Hearts o' gold, I tell ya!

I'm calling him right now to tell him that tonight, he is the toast of Manhattan!

...at least to two random, freaky dancer guys. :P

My folks just bought a house, and it has lots of great trees and bushes in the yard (the previous owner was a landscaper). Today, I was helping my dad move some stuff, put together some shelving, and throw away some old suitcases.

When we were finished inside, we went to pick some oranges from one of the trees in the yard. These oranges are amazingly sweet - almost as though they have sugar in them. The tree was full of them, and eventually I was using my shirt to hold them all. Then I noticed the last of the old suitcases. I had brought it outside, intending to put it in the car.

It didn't take me long to realize the beauty of the situation.

How often is it that you're standing under an orange tree that's laden with with sugary oranges, with an empty suitcase by your side? I picked a couple dozen and left plenty for later. My folks are going to give some of them to relatives.

I discovered that there's a Baskin Robbins around the corner from where I'm staying!

This may not seem like a big deal unless you realize I'm in New Delhi....

I'd been meaning to check out the Haitian beauty salon below my apartment for a while. Today I stopped by for a pedicure.

It was the greatest pedicure of my life. She held my feet in her lap and worked for an hour. An hour! This is without polish, by the way. She was a gentle perfectionist. I can't stop touching my soft heels.

Today I volunteered at the US Weight Category Karate Championships in LA. It was fun because I got to see a lot of world-class fighters, but it was doubly fun because Sonny Chiba showed up.

Yes, Sonny Chiba, Japanese martial arts movie legend.

But that's not all. Who should sit down by Sonny Chiba but Dolph Lundgren.

Yes, Dolph Lundgren. Ivan Drago in the flesh.

So that was awesome too.

I got cat-called today by two women. I was walking down the street, and at an intersection, a car drove by with two women. They rolled down the window and proceeded to cat-call me like a construction worker would do to a woman, but in a non-crass way.

I was very shocked, but man, what an ego boost!

I got my first parking ticket in about 3 years. Sucky start to the day.

But then: 1) a friend bought me a pastrami for lunch, 2) the boss got me a cappucino, and then...the motherload... 3) a 15 year old suburban teen I know showed up at her grandmother's steps after living off the streets in Bed Effin' Sty for the past 7 weeks. Black eyes, bruises, but alive...
