Unexpectedly cool stuff that happened 2 u 2day

Boss comes over, drops a hundred dollar bill on my desk and says, "Buy a nice glass of wine the next time you eat at Babbo". Anything cool happening in your neck of the woods? -Eff

A friend from high school who I hardly ever get to see coordinates events for the Walker and learned that Wolfie himself will be at the restaurant tomorrow.
I overheard Andrew Zimmern mention that Wolfgang Puck was in Chicago today.

Asane - our unexpectedly cool things are totally related. Like second cousins or something.

Wolfgang Puck runs an Asian fusion restaurant located in the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis. A friend from high school who I hardly ever get to see coordinates events for the Walker and learned that Wolfie himself will be at the restaurant tomorrow. And so it's a date! The coolness is threefold: I get to dine on yummy Asian fusion fare, I get to spend time with my friend who I never get to see, and I might get to meet or at least catch a gander at Baron von Puckenheimer. You old schoolers/loungeristas remember Sharon, aka Shaz on TWT? Yeah, it's her.
give her an ass smack from me.

You don't even know who she is, do you. That's sick, man. Slapping a strange woman's ass vicariously through another woman.

I tested negative for the breast/ovarian/colon cancer gene.

Because those diseases run rampant in my family, this is unexpectedly kick-ass news.

A co-worker who has been the bane of my existence since day one at this job got fired today. I'm trying really, really hard not to tempt the fates by being too happy about it. But in addition to my own personal satisfaction about not having to work with someone I really don't personally like, this is also really good news for my whole team and the whole organization IMHO. She wasn't doing her job, and certainly not doing it well. And I'm really excited about the prospect of getting someone in here who will kick ass like a lot of my colleagues do. So I guess it's not all personal gloating or just me being petty about someone I don't like getting the boot. And I want to stay focused on that. Because right now it's all I can do to honor those who feel upset with this by not jumping up in my cube and screaming, "WOOOOFREAKINGHOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!"

I found out I CAN renew my Vt drivers license again, by mail . I thought I was going to have to switch it to NY which would mean going to the DMV and waiting in lines and showing them my non existent social security card and some other hoo haw. Phew.

I got to make sausage today. As part of the training for my new position, I've training one day in each department. Today was Meat Day. The sausage meat is dumped into a large cylinder. Pig intestine is slid over a much smaller cylinder, mounted perpendicularly to the first. A button is depressed causing the floor of the first cylinder to rise, forcing the meat out the second cylinder to be caught in the intestine in one long strand. To make the links, you pinch a portion of meat tube and spin one way, then pinch an adjoining portion and spin the other way, and so on. I also got to slice some pork. And, I still have all of my fingers.

Quoted from "Trazy"
Yesterday at the University where I work, a man in a dark suit whom I've never seen before came in to our offices and asked for me. After I responded, he quickly shoved an envelope in my hands, stamped CONFIDENTIAL on the front and back, and then he swiftly left without uttering a word. As it turns out, I was selected for the extremely competitive President's Emerging Leaders program. It will be a fantastic opportunity, yet it will be pretty intense with a 10-12 hour per week time commitment for an entire year. To kick it off, I'll be having lunch with the University's President in July. I'm excited and stressed at the same time.

Trazy graduated from President's Emerging Leaders yesterday!

This is what Trazy looks like after the poster session/graduation ceremony, on the terrace of the University Club, explaining to his colleague why the iPhone is so cool:

Today I ducked into a sushi place for a quick bite before a rehearsal. It was happy hour, before the place gets busy so I was the only one at the sushi bar.

After I finished my sushi, I asked my server for the check. It was then that the chef prepared for me a little plate of sliced fresh pineapple, nectarines, and grapes. "From the farmer's market!" he said. They were yummy.

Unexpected free fresh fruit dessert - score!

Stood in line for my iPhone 3GS at 6:45am this morning. At 7:00 sharp about 50 Apple employees shuffled out of the store like clowns out of a Volkswagen.

I got mine unexpectedly quick - about an hour is all. And the 3GS is unexpectedly much faster than the original iPhone.

i was really dreading taking the bus down to nyc from providence (it's twice as expensive than taking it from boston, which irks me) for this weekend but had resigned myself to it. but when i woke up this morning i had a facebook message from an old college friend offering me a ride! she's going back home to jersey for the weekend.. i haven't seen her in something like 8 years and now instead of sitting on a bus for over 3 hours i get to catch up with gina! yay!

I just found out that the big piece I worked on, the one I'm really proud of anyway, is a finalist in it's second award show. It's not one of the major shows, and of course everyone in my group is still about to lose their jobs, but it does soften the blow just a bit. And hopefully make me a little more marketable in my job search.

It's official. We got the Gold World Medal for collateral (at the New York Festival Awards). Nice to have something new on the resume.
