Boss comes over, drops a hundred dollar bill on my desk and says, "Buy a nice glass of wine the next time you eat at Babbo". Anything cool happening in your neck of the woods? -Eff

For some reason I never put my PKA on my bank account. I never had problems before and the bank I went to knew who I was. So I moved banks (same bank, different branch) because I moved and there's a BofA closer to my house now. They don't know me. So I went to cash a cheque that was printed out with my stage name and they said I needed to bring in identification.
I didn't have time that day so I waited and went to a different BofA on my way home from a gig the other day and they refused to cash it and said I had to go to the courthouse and legally change it or pay to start a DBA account or LLC.
SO...I was kind of pissed off because I spent an hour waiting for them to tell me this and the OTHER bank said they'd do it if I brought in a business card and proof that I have been paid under my stage name.
Today...I go back to the OTHER bank that said they'd do it and they DID!! YAY!!! I brought in a business card, my headshot, proof that I have been paid using my stage name and they added PKA to my account and I will never have any problems with it ever again.
Never thought I'd say this but...Thanks Bank Of America on Vermont and Hollywood Blvd!! You made my life so much easier!!!
And then I went to guitar centre and bought new cables and Guitar centre gave me a great deal because I'm on their Pro List and they offered me a great deal to try out some new pedals.
The other cool thing that happened (not today, but recently) is that I had a show at the key club and the night before my gig my pickup went out and the guys at Carvin were great and fixed it for free the morning of my gig. WOOHOO...
moral of the story: even though life can really suck at times...there ARE a few nice people in the world and those people deserve our gratitude. I feel very thankful that I have been running into kind and helpful people. It's hard to find them, especially in Hollywood, and I intend to pay it forward.

Today, I got my cellphone's cracked screen fixed for 60 in three hours. I'm pretty happy because the phone was free with my cellphone plan but replacing it would have been 100 .

Friday, at 4am, after the post-fram diner hang I sparked up a conversation with random guy on a subway platform waiting for the same train I was. We got along really well and now we're gonna hang out. It's cool when stuff like that happens.

Went to the drive-in at Boston Chicken and ordered a sandwich combo. When I get to the window they explain that they are out of bread and shouldn't have taken my order. So they let me pick another meal and comp it.

Quoted from "Emmysue4you" I'm in an A-Listed experimental dance theater production this weekend! All three shows have sold out.
Quoted from "Minneapolis City Pages" This annual event features new works by four of the Twin Cities' boldest and brightest choreographers...
In Vanessa Voskuil's "En Masse," 79 civilians of diverse ages, sizes, genders, and ethnicities, led by Voskuil herself, cycle through a range of crowd dynamics from reverie to anarchy in a mass folk dance.
Photos by Jim Smith.
This production has been a hell of a ride.
And hey! We've been nominated for two Minnesota Sage Awards, one for Outstanding Performance and one for Outstanding Design!
Quoted from "www.sageawards.org" The SAGE Awards celebrate the dance makers who dare to be different,
the artists who transform our times
and embody the spirit of creative revolution.
Now I get to dress up all fancy and go to the awards gala next week. :)

A few things:
I found the wedding dress of my dreams (tried on a very similar one from the same designer) for cheap on ebay and I WON IT!!!!
Found out a bunch of friends of mine from college are planning on flying to Italy for my wedding, which I wasn't expecting, and I"m so happy about.
AND today very well might be my last day in the clinic for my MS!!!!! All I have to do now is study my butt off to pass the final oral exam in two weeks.
And finally....not today, but a couple of days ago, I found out that my work visa is finally making progress for the first time since I've been offered my job in Italy 1.5 years ago. Which means in a few months I'll likely be able to earn money, which would be helpful for living :).

Today I looked at some artifacts from the archaeology dept. under the scanning electron microscope: stone tools made by Cro-Magnon man. We were looking for residues from the animals or instruments they were used on. It was cool.

Well first this happened, which was not really cool.
But then this happened, which was cool:
Quoted from "Monsignore on 10/07/09" I just called the company and the nice lady said she'd credit my account for the shipping costs!
Duluth Trading Co. Gotta love those Wisconsonites.

So last year I applied to a bunch of MFA programs with an admittedly spotty portfolio. Not surprisingly, I didn't get in. To any. So I'm trying to gear myself up to reapply (with all new, more focused work). I met with a grad admissions counselor at SMFA today and had him unofficially evaluate my portfolio. He said my work was really strong and I was a good MFA candidate!!!!! That's exactly the shove I needed. Grad apps, here I come!

I got the call today that I'll be going to Boston to interview in person for Assistant Director of the Harvard College Women's Center. This job is exactly up my alley -- I'm so excited to just be able to go and put my best foot forward.
Unexpectedly cool stuff that happened 2 u 2day

I met Air and dennisrodman today at Fram. :D
I finally had my Job Dialogue (review) yesterday. It was primarily favorable, though I need to work on my product and company knowledge.
Oh, and I got a 6 raise!

Saturday, I finished the USAF Marathon in 4:22:26 an improvement of 0:03:49 over my best marathon time.
I'm so tired!
Nice.
After being hornless on my motorcycle for about 4 month, I finally figured out that I had the negative lead hooked to the positive lead.

After a particularly hectic day, I returned to the apartment to discover China Girl had stopped by a certain Madison Ave shop.
For laying out was an orange gift box. Inside it? A silk tie with a whimsical green heirloom tomato motif.

Very cool.
You should ask Eff how he made them. Ha!

I, too, have been thinking about grad school. What type of program do you want?
