Unexpectedly cool stuff that happened 2 u 2day

Boss comes over, drops a hundred dollar bill on my desk and says, "Buy a nice glass of wine the next time you eat at Babbo". Anything cool happening in your neck of the woods? -Eff

I am not so sure spending 100 on a glass of wine is a good thing is it?

IMHO Depends on whose time you're sharing when you drink it.

On both those notes, I did share a bottle of wine last night that worked out to 5 a glass. Couldn't have been any better.

Haven't been able to find my white tie tux (including shirt, suspenders, and Thomas Pink mother of pearl shirt studs) for about a year and a half.

Spent an hour searching the house over the course of this weekend as well.

Even went to my drycleaner today to ask her to search around the shop.

Then I asked China Girl. She walked into the den and found it in about 8 seconds.

Can she find my green rain jacket too? Haven't been able to find it since before August.

I was sad to be so far away from family for Thanksgiving so I decided to have one here in Italy...

We had it last night, cause, well thats how it worked out, and somehow it ended up being freaking amazing. I made just about all the food by myself somehow and it miraculously was all hot and ready at the same time, and I found CRANBERRY SAUCE (cranberries dont exist here... it was an adventure that involved me driving across the country to venice and searching all day for a shop that had no address), and we even managed to find a turkey (cause they only sell them in little pieces here, usually).

It was incredible- 21 people!!! Man oh man, Italians know how to celebrate thanksgiving, even if they don't know what it is or what any of the food is. And I got to meet most of my 'new' family, including 4 generations of my fiance's family, in the same room. I'm happy :)

That is so awesome! You gave them their first Thanksgiving (the first of many) - what a gift!!

I have a class with Elie Wiesel this semester and just found out last week that he makes office hours appointments with students (usually we just meet with the teaching assistant) so I went today to see if I could make an appointment, and his secretary said he was booked but she would ask if he could squeeze me in. And he did and I got to sit and talk to him for 10 minutes. And he told me he really enjoyed having me in his class and liked my comments and questions and to let him know if there's anything he can do to help me in the future.

I had one prepared question for him that we discussed, but basically it was just really cool because I got to sit and talk one-on-one with a Nobel Prize Winner and someone I really personally admire for a few minutes and personally thank him for teaching such a wonderful class.

After years of partisan activism, I recently took a job that requires me to maintain utter nonpartisanship (I'm with the League of Women Voters). This means that I had to resign my position on the State Democratic Executive Committee, and leave as my precinct's chair.

This has caused me considerable distress, because I sincerely loved both positions. The cool part: Earlier in the month, all of the precinct chairs got together and nominated someone to replace me on the State level, and they chose someone who will be awesome. Relief! Today, I got an email from one of my best precinct volunteers saying that she will sign up to become precinct chair in my place. SWEET!

I left two holes, and they have both been filled by folks that I like and respect. I feel SO much better about stepping aside now! And now, a shameless plug: http://www.lwv.org Join your local League!
