Quoted from "BluesForCP" I think I might have to go to this:

I went to one of those viewings in July. It was fun, but waaaay in the middle of nowhere. Like a mile walk from that huge Atlantic Ave stop (though I think the G train was fairly close). But depending how many people rsvp, they sometimes have them in other places too. Could be worth checking out if they have more of them.

I was just checking out the Quantum Mechanix site to see if they had any fun new stuff and noticed this doozy. In addition to their "Complete and Official Map of the Verse" which they've been selling for a while, you can also download a free white paper "The Verse In Numbers" (pdf) detailing the basic structure and history of the verse. It was painstakingly researched and developed with the help of several people involved in the show, comic books and RPG, and trying as hard as possible to make Joss' unscientific ideas at least sort-of scientific. As the writer puts it:
Quote What was produced was then reviewed, and ultimately approved by, Universal Studios.
So, what does that make The Map of the Verse? Canon? Extended Canon? Speculation?
Here's how I like to think about it it's as accurate as it's possible to be right now. Meaning to say, it's 100 percent accurate, until Joss
says it isn't. It's Joss' Verse, after all. We're just lucky that we were allowed to visit and bring home a few souvenirs.
Not clear on the details, I think it's going off the website tonight. But yes - feature length fan film, set in the universe of Firefly after the events of Serenity. Some rough acting, and the sets/costumes are occasionally distracting, but generally fun to watch.
