So I don't want this topic to be cruel or making fun of anyone, but I wanted everyone to share any videos they come across online of people that dance to swing music, but what the're doing is something makes you wonder where they heck they learned to dance like they do . . . (i.e. unique…

After the last "ECS", I searched for "Ceroc", and found something I actually like! These guys are wicked good dancers, and would make awesome Lindy Hoppers if we captured them and put them through some re-grooving.
pretzelicious http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i_JCrVyN2RI seriously, if I yanked arms that much I'd get punched and deservedly so. You can actually see the poor girl wincing a couple of times as he wraps her arm behind her back and pulls her down.

The dancers did a pretty good job with what they were given.
Unfortunately the choreography had a lot of dead time and whoever taught them swingouts was primarily a ballroom dance teacher (I'm speculating since they're upright and right on top of the beat) who learned from videos.

Considering that was for a history class, I think it's pretty cool. Sure the dancing could use a lot of work but the kids looked like they were having heaps of fun. Hopefully the Savoy Ballroom and Whitey's Lindy Hoppers came up and some of them seek out the local Lindy Hop scene.
And of course props to the band. They were swinging. Interesting slipping back and forth between It Don't Mean a Ting (32 bar) and Woodchopper's Ball (12 bar).
Wow, I know things are pretty tough in your country, what with the death penalty and water-boarding, but I never realised you make people dance six-count to disco-rot - surely this constitutes a 'cruel and unusual punishment' as described in your Eighth Amendment?
Certainly, in Europe it would be considered a breach of article three of the European Convention on Human Rights. As I understand, the only situation in which this sort of activity is permissible is when the perpetrator is drunk at his / her daughter's wedding reception. Actually, in those circumstances, I think it is mandatory here in England.
I think it qualifies as "the lindy" rather than "the swing" they are doing swing outs after all . . . horrible bastardized ballroom versions, but swing outs none the less.
Videos of people dancing "the swing"

Agreed. I actually love the song, and I'm planning on listening to some more of her stuff.

I'm amused that the best dancer in the room...is the guy dancing with the mop in the back. Priceless. ;-)

Picked for the tasty song choice. I like the whistle too. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vkrIAhq1kZ8
The devil went down to Georgia to do some aerials in the garage http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UjlSZuFpP70
Don't forget the wax-on, wax-off style two-step going on in the background.
The first video is why we discourage aerials.
Did you catch the butt grab in the background couple? The devil was definitely in the garage that night!
How did you miss this awesome version?
I love how the teacher diligently keeps trucking on even though all the students are horrifically off beat.
Bears. Beets. Battlestar Galactica.
Ever heard of the Swingsters?
There's some swing outs in there, so at least they're trying.

The Swing, Retro Version? Fun starts at 1:50

Good song, sadly rather butchered by the Lawrence Welk band.
It gets particularly good with the aerials at 4 minutes in.

Gotta give it up for the high school swing band playing for almost 10 minutes.

So, during the last few weeks I've come across several new videos of ballroom dancers doing "Lindy Hop", like this for example...

the lift at 1:50 is the high point, I find.
I figured it's about time to start contributing to this...

This is far from horrible. It's just not good. I have to say if you think their dancing is bad, you don't know bad.
This is just some children screwin' around. The word swing isn't even in the title.
Did somebody buy Chiv a copy of imovie? Awesome for it's high production values and low artistic integrity.

The "winning couple" sure demonstrated how exhausting it is to dance slow.
Oh God.
Four minutes of dancing to mid tempo music is a marathon? A test of endurance?
I don't know what bothered me more; that they called their music swing, or that it was repeating like an old Casio keyboard demo loop.
THE JUDGES LOVED IT! How the hell?!?
I am most bothered that the song is in straight eights. It's deliberately not swing.
Their version of 'In The Mood' sucked even more than Jive Bunny's. The dancing was pretty cheesy, too.

The magic happens at around 1:34 . Can't wait to see that busted out on the social floor.
O dear god... The hair... the slap... the kitchen... its a trifecta of terrifying.
oh dear goodness!
Ditto... and I think that is the first time I have ever seen a mullet like that with swing or 'swing' dancing... ack!
I think the best part, aside from the mullet and crotch slap of course, is that the top recommended video to follow it is Hellzapoppin. Ha!
