I am in search of a 21-28 yr old lead whom i can practice with
(possibly by going to fram every other weekend). I am 21, in college in NY and dont know if i want to take lessons but would consider going to intermediate level classes witha partner. But most of me thinks i'll be able to get better by practice alone. I believe i'm at a medium level, and am a very quick learner. I used to be a competitive ballroom dancer as a kid which i use as a default.

I am shocked that this thread is getting buried. Where's the famed Yehoodi snark? There's so much potential -- starting with the idea of Fram on weekends, and ending with jabs at libertarians and ballroom dancers. Or have people exhausted themselves after the Oberlin blues thread? Can't be.

It's her first post.
She's not making pronouncements; she's looking for an activity partner. Finding a dance partner is hard so why make it tougher? Anyone who contacts her can decide for himself if they click. And I think it's fair to say we're all in favor of likeminded newbies finding each other.
Her name is ronpaulian. QED. (We don't always shoot the fish that are just chillin' in barrels.)
Ronpaulian, welcome to Yehoodi. BTW, Fram is on Thursdays. Jelly Roll is sporadic but usually Friday nights. NYSDS is Sundays. The major dance studios, which include You Should Be Dancing/Club 412, Sandra Cameron and Dance Manhattan, host events periodically, some more than others. Check the Yehoodi calendar, but to be safe, bookmark their sites too.

welcome to yehoodi ronpaulian! Good luck with the partner search!
I had a regular partner when I was a newb and found it extremely helpful.

No, this is the part where everyone starts offering her help by suggesting the total opposite of what she's looking for.
Just curious, but why 21 - 28 when you are 21? There could be some really awesome 18-20 year old male partners. Is most of the NY scene in bars?

since you didn't specify what college you attend, do they have a swing or ballroom club? just a thought.
nope, that would be the easy solution
Ronpaulian, did you get my message?
