Hey all! This is my first post on Yehoodi :) I've been swing dancing for three years and I absolutely love it. I consider myself to be a pretty decent dancer but my ultimate goal is to become professional (i.e. win at Beantown/similar comp and be invited to teach at camps). What would you…

Quoted from "Zenin"
Quoted from "mouth" So to recap, you believe that the quality of something has absolutely nothing, nada, zip, zilch, zero to do with its success ever.
Is that right?
No, not at all what I believe. Nor is it even remotely close to what I wrote.
Ok so what role does quality play in something's success?
Also, would like to answer this question of mine:
Quoted from "mouth" Also, this person who vouches for the person who will become a headliner because of their vouching... why do they vouch for them?

Not everything and not nothing.

Sex, drugs, money. The usual stuff. :stickpoke:
So your theory as to why dancers like Nina Gilkenson, Skye Humphries, and Ramona Staffeld became world renowned, well respected, "headliner" swing "rockstars" when they were under the age of 16 is because of sex, drugs, and/or money? Interesting.
And I would love to hear you expound on your answer to the role quality plays in success. But I'm guessing you won't do it because then you'd have to admit there are holes in just about everything else you've posted in this thread.

I made a tactical mistake in my first reply to this thread which I have since corrected. Rather then presenting the entire argument at once, which has proven unpalatable, I have chosen to meter my response to a degree that might be more easily digested. Again, the first bite is:
Not everything, and not nothing.
If you can not or will not digest this much, there is no benefit to going forward with greater detail.

Ah, so now I'm too stupid to even understand the vague, non-answer of "not everything, and not nothing" and so to punish my ridiculous level of dumbness you've decided to take your toys and leave. Nice.
I think I just came as close as you can to winning an argument with Zenin. Yay me! :D
How to get professional?

Hey mouth and Shana,
Do you ever think while talking to Zenin that we might be the victims of a Turing test?
Ok I had to look up what a Turing Test was but it was worth it because now I totally feel like that. Well done Keither. :D
Very interesting. Please go on.
