So, this kinda goes with the "Pick Up and Move" thread. It seems that different scenes gain momentum then die down. First it was DC, then LA, and then Seattle. I've spoken with a number of dancers, instructors, world champions, and legends. As of right now, Seattle has the #1 dance…

It's not insulting. Why does it matter to you so much that we all declare New Orleans "the winner!"?
If it's really the next big scene, people will go there because of the music, the venues and the people in the community; not because they read about it on Yehoodi.
Did I miss where U.S. News is coming out this year's "Top Ten Lindy Scene" rankings? Is there a government grant going to the scene that is number 1?

Dana, are you seeing a professional about this aggression of yours? It's really not healthy. You seem to take pleasure in picking fights with me. Maybe you should talk to someone about that.

I think that the main issue being taken with this thread is that New York, San Fran, Chicago, Los Angeles, Seattle, DC and other cities that have been the " 1" cities for Lindy Hop, never felt the need to tell everyone that they were " 1" or argue/defend/reason why they were bigger/better/whatever than other scenes. They just were.
Even with no official announcement, that "X" city was the new "best", somehow everyone figured it out.
It may be that New Orleans is headed towards, or at, the top, and that's great. I'm sure that tons of people will come dance there and have and amazing time doing it, as many have done already, and you have every right to be happy and excited about that...
..but there's something to the idea of "If you have to tell someone you are, then you aren't."
Just let it happen. Have some dignity about it. Be 1 without having to say "We're 1, in your face!".

So, does that mean that AlainW does not have dignity for mentioning Montreal? Goofball for Austin? Mitchel for Denver?
I think there are ways of discussing reasons as to what makes an outstanding scene (which has already been proven) without being obnoxious. I think my enthusiasm comes off obnoxious, which I apologize for, but it's hard not to be excited when so many people share the same excitement and passion.
I think I posted this on here numerous times, but to reiterate again, I've really enjoyed reading other legit reasons and opinions as to which city will gain the momentum and success that other cities have received in the past.

Swifty, not again. We've had this discussion. If you don't care, don't post on this forum.
We did have this discussion, and like I said then, you may not be intending to do so but you're coming off as an approval-seeking braggart. Other people have (nicely, and not-so-nicely) said the same thing, and you are still posting baiting comments like:
Quoted from "jlindyhopr" I still find it funny and entertaining that folks post why their dance scene doesn't suck vs. who is the next big one, or are in denial that there actually is a ranked 1 city out there.
...and then publicly wondering why people perceive your posts on this thread in the way they do. If you want to brag about how great your scene is, that's fine, but expect reactions like you've been getting. If that is not your intent, you may want to take a step back and look at how others might be reading your posts before clicking Submit.
As for why you are getting the reaction you are, Ogden summed it up perfectly.

If I also remember correctly, you apologized for coming off as a jerk toward me on this thread. I don't want to have this same conversation with you in person at the next dance event. Either join in the conversation objectively, or don't. Name calling is not why I post on yehoodi (unless it's from Beckto, but usually there some sexual innuendo involved).
Btw, I believe you were hired by us to DJ our exchange last month. Instead of blasting me on this thread, why don't you contribute to the conversation and post your experience here, and why or why you don't think New Orleans is the next scene. And if not, which scene you deem as a potential future success seeing that you travel frequently through DJing gigs. I value your professional dance and DJing opinion more than your unofficial psychologist's opinion.

Why does there have to be a next scene?
Why can't we make our own scene better?
If you have a place to dance three or more nights a week, a regular crowd of people to attend and you are happy, that is your scene.
Make your own scene a better scene, for crying out loud.
Go to an exchange for some variety.

Reread the thread to find your answer.
Oh right, because it makes you feel superior to live in the number one scene. Now I remember.

Congrats!!!
I just effing CACKLED out loud.
This thread makes my dik hard.
Mission accomplished!
The banner made me piss myself. If I could mold an award out of my day-old poop for you, jayna, and your 1 Rated Swing Scene, I would.
Please make sure you eat corn first. I heard that helps hold texture when molding poop.
I only aim to please you, oh wise, poopalicious Beckto!

Silence Chuck Knuckles! Or I will ask Beckto to make a poop statue out of you!
She's making one of me... a giant penis!
I don't take requests: Poop-Trophies are something that come from deep within me.
That's what he said.
:o
OMG
