RIP Frankie. We love you and will miss you dearly.

I came into work today. And I just felt miserable and sad. And I didn't know why. I do now. Frankie was a mentor to many. Midori and I are happy to be two of that number. He inspired us as a dancer. He inspired us as a teacher. He inspired us as a human being.

We weren't family (we only knew him for over a decade of his 94 years), but he made us feel like family with warm smile, hug or firm handshake. He was that kind.

To say he will be missed is an understatement. I do know this. I'm sure he's leading one heckuva shim shim up there. God bless.

Boosh!

I am honored that, having come so late to the game, I was able to meet him while he was still with us. He has been an inspiration to me through the inspiration he has been to my friends.

Thank you, Frankie.

what. a. life.

we are all so lucky to have had the chance to see the pure joy in frankie, and i sincerely hope we all try to live with that same joy as we go on in our lives. he'll never really be gone, anyway. anytime a couple does a swingout, anywhere in the world, frankie will be there.

It's such a privilege to even have awareness of this man's gift to the world. I can't find the words to express my feelings today.

I remember the first class I took with him, and how much he lit up the room with his energy and smile. Just an incredible person.

Thank you Frankie for everything you've done and for everyone that you've touched. Keep on swingin'.

Do you know how awkward it is to have a political argument with a naked man?

I would get goosebumps every time he walked in. And, my face was beaming as well.

I knew that Frankie was sick, but it was still a shock to wake up to this news this morning.

Rest in peace, Frankie.

I don't have sufficient words.

We should all be so lucky to touch 1/100th of the lives he did. What a man, what a legacy. Go well, Frankie, and thank you for everything.

RIP, Frankie. You inspired me and at least a billion others throughout your lifetime. We will miss you.

Weird psychic connection story: I didn't even know he was having health issues lately, and have been out of the swing community life for awhile, yet, late last night was flipping through tv channels and watched Ken Burns' Jazz series episode with Frankie Manning's interview. Then this morning my wife was informed via her swing friend's facebook concerning Frankie's passing.

We're all blessed that you got to have a "second act," Frankie, and more so that you shared it so freely and joyfully with all of us.

Frankie may be gone, but his legacy is IMMORTAL.

Take Five, Frankie.....you deserve it.

Frankie was such an inspiration for us...It s so sad he won t enter the room again and lighten it up with his smile...
But he had a rich life and knowing how many people loved him makes the loss bearable...

Like everyone else, I really lack the words to express how much we will all miss this man... his energy, his smile, his inspiration.

RIP, Frankie. Thanks for everything.

Sad news. But we can now celebrate the legacy of dance he left for us.

I remember dancing with him at Swing 46 only a couple years ago, a Monday night with the Harlem Renaissance Orchestra -- I was shy about asking, but he was very gracious. We only did six count swing, but I was still beaming afterward.

RIP, Frankie.

Frankie was inspiring to say the least - even to me, who was quite the wallflower. Rest in peace, Frankie.

The first time I met him was at his book signing last summer. I was so inspired by him and his speech. His smile was radiating. I wish that I had gotten to know him better. I will miss him greatly.

Jerry

I was privelged to have met him a number of times. The first was at the cotton club. Then just a few months ago, Celia and I sat at his table at the Edison ballroom George Gee extravaganza. Then lastly at George Gee's birthday party at Swing 46 a few weeks ago. See below. RIP. Notice the brillant smile.
