Come join us for ATLX: Lucky No.7! March 26-March 28

This year we'll be bringing back your favorite bands and venues along with some new surprises to make this the best Atlanta Lindy Exchange ever! And to compliment our casino theme, all of our late-night venues will allow alcohol. Because we want you to have your lindy hop the way you like it — whether that's shaken or stirred!

That's three full nights of dancing at Atlanta's best venues, plus the Thursday pre-party! RSVP on our Facebook page for updates on bands, venues, schedules and more to come! You won't want to miss this memorable exchange!

Registration for ATLX: Lucky No. 7 is now open!!!! It’s only $60 for the month of January!

Also, mark the date on your calendar — Jan 21, 2010 — when the newly updated ATLX7 volunteer system goes live! If you would like to volunteer for ATLX, please note that the number of hours for full compensation has decreased from 10 to 8 hours!!!  The half compensation for ATLX has also been cut from 5 hours to 4 hours!!! If you choose to volunteer less than 4 hours out of the goodness of your heart, you will receive much appreciation.  Click here to register or to volunteer!

To volunteer at ATLX is quite simple: first, register for ATLX7 and pay for the event. Second, create a login name for the web site (make sure you check the email often, as that is how you will be contacted). Third, sign up for the volunteer shifts you would like to work. Please keep in mind when signing up for some shifts that if you clean up one event, it is unlikely you can set up the next event, as times often overlap. After the event, you will be reimbursed. If you have any questions or concerns, please email Meghan at Volunteers2010@atlx.org.

Hey, y’all!

This is the last week you can receive the ATLX: Lucky No. 7 registration at $70! Prices will increase at midnight, Feb. 28th, and preregistration will close midnight, March 21st.

This year we are pleased to announce the following bands and DJs:

Friday Night: Jambiance (aka the Gypsy Hicks) www.myspace.com/thegypsyhicks

Jambiance plays 1930's swing in the style of the Hot Club of Paris made famous by legendary guitarist Django Reinhart. Jambiance strives to re-create the sound of French bistros and cabarets where this blend of musette, gitane, and "le jazz hot" originated.

Saturday Night: Still Swinging, with Les Still www.stillswinging.com

Still Swinging was founded in 1997 by Les Still, a native of Cobb County, Ga. He has assembled a roster of the finest trumpet, trombone, saxophone and rhythm players in the metro area to create just the right blend. The final product is a unique sound that truly captures the essence of the swing era.

Sunday Night: The Gravediggers www.myspace.com/gravediggersband

The Gravediggers are the house band for the Graveyard Tavern in East Atlanta Village, playing a mix of swing, jump blues, boogie woogie and jazz standards, featuring Atlanta music veterans James Brooks on guitar and vocals, Bob Page on piano and vocals, and Bill Burke on bass. The Gravediggers band played at last year’s ATLX 6 and received fantastic reviews all around; we are thrilled to have them back this year.

DJs: Robert Barbier — Atlanta, GA Jesse Gearhart — Atlanta, GA Jim Wheatley — Atlanta, GA Michael Cobb — (aka Moose) — Atlanta, GA Huy Huynh — Atlanta, GA Patrick Manigault —Atlanta, GA Michael Gamble — Asheville, NC Rob Moreland — Raleigh, NC

What a lineup! We’re excited to have you in Atlanta this year! Check out the ATLX website for registration, housing, and other details!

Holy Cow! ATLX: Lucky No. 7 is only a week away!

We still have some full-weekend spots left, so sign up now before registration closes on March 21! That’s right, after this Sunday, you’ll have to pay full prices at the door for each dance! (Plus, you won’t get in to the barbecue!)

We have dancers coming from all over the country, so come ready to take some chances this March 26-28! We’ve created a whole weekend of wonder, luck and lindy hop!

Getting to Atlanta early? Come dance with us at the Atlanta Brewing Company for the ATLX pre-party! RSVP on Facebook here.

Ten stellar DJs. Eight great dances. Three kickin’ bands. One good ol’ Southern barbecue. ATLX 7.
